Irish actor Liam Neeson has given his distinctive voice to this inspirational video for Ireland’s bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) campaign video, entitled “Ready For the World,” showcases Ireland as the perfect host venue. Familiar Irish faces, such as U2’s Bono, Bob Geldof, John F Kennedy, and Barack Obama all feature in the video, which celebrates Irish achievements across the globe.
An IRFU spokesperson confirmed that Neeson narrated the video free of charge.
The video launched at the high-profile bid unveiling at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on November 15.

The Irish Examiner reports that former Ireland star Brian O’Driscoll, who is working as an ambassador for the campaign, said: “We are ready to bring the world to us, to share in our heritage and create a tournament in 2023 that would be both unique and legendary, a Rugby World Cup full of timeless memories for all.”
South Africa and France are also shortlisted to be hosts, but the final decision won’t be made until November of next year.
