An Irish priest has gone viral for his hilarious take on a couple’s first kiss after he pronounced them husband and wife at their traditional church wedding.

Father Healy, who was reported to be a friend of the groom’s family and had come out of retirement to officiate at the wedding, moved straight on without telling the young couple to kiss.

The moment went viral on social media, with one post saying, ‘The bride kept saying ‘first kiss, first kiss’ until he finally understood what she was asking for.’

Father Healy paused at his lectern and said, ‘You can’t expect an old bachelor to remember something like that.’ Then he looked at them and added, ‘Well, do what you have to do.’

The video, which was taken at the wedding ceremony for Madellin and Ben Butcher in New South Wales, Australia, in May 2023, has gone viral again, with wedding season just around the corner.
