Belfast’s only second-level Irish language school put a smile on our faces with this brilliant video of song and dance.YouTube

Irish-language school Coláiste Féirste bring the house down with this incredible lip dub video, making us extremely jealous of all the craic they must have at school there. Teachers and students joined together with online Irish language culture magazine Nós.ie to dance their way through the school to Kíla’s “Leath ina dhiaidh a hOcht” (meaning “8.30”) and Seo Linn’s “Ar scath a chéile.”

As three nervous-looking students approach the school they are reminded that classes start at 8.30 and as they enter the building they find the halls of Coláiste Feirste lined with singing, dancing students. Instruments are played, science experiments are carried out and some food is baked. We’re even treated to a taste of the celebrity life with a band taking to the stage amidst screams from groups of girls.

Showing off their talents in sport, music, dance and their academic abilities, Coláiste Feirste knocks it out of the park and certainly put a smile on our faces with their enthusiasm.

The first Irish-language school to be opened in Northern Ireland, Coláiste Feirste is the only Irish-medium secondary school in Belfast. They dedicated this video to the memory of former student and teacher at the school Beicí Mhic Crabhagáin, who died of cancer earlier this year before the finished video was published.

More than 600 staff and students took part in the making of the video, which was filmed over a day and a half.
