We all think our pets are superstars, but the search is on for an Irish dog who can take it to the next level.

The producers of Legally Blonde The Musical are currently searching Ireland for a four-legged friend to star in the show.

The hit production is due to take place at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin for a brief run of shows in early March.

Producers are on the lookout for a responsive dog with a "relaxed, laid back temperament" to take the role of Rufus, the pooch that Paulette triumphantly takes from her loser ex-husband.

While it's not essential that Rufus is played by a bulldog, as he is in the film, dogs who apply should be "bullish" and "robust".

Previous stage experience is not necessary - but a bonus. "Doggy auditions" are stated to take place on February 8th, giving an owner ample time to get their pup practicing for their potential big break.

Lastly, producers added that cute creatures need not apply. In fact, the uglier the dog the better!

If this sounds like an Irish pet  you know, urge their owner to email a photo of the dog with its name, breed, and description along with their personal details to legallyblondedogauditions@gmail.com with the subject line 'Dublin Auditions'.
