The Twittersphere is going wild for Captain America, aka Chris Evans, wearing a cream Aran sweater in the new detective caper "Knives Out."

The new Rian Johnson helmed detective movie starring Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, and Christopher Plummer has a lot going for it but who would have thought it would be Chris Evans wearing an Irish Aran sweater that would set the Twittersphere on fire.

In fact, the Twitter fervor was so intense that the movie's official Twitter page @KnivesOut changed its name to “Chris Evans’ Sweater Stan Account”.

Here are some of the top tweets:

Very grateful to have finally seen myself represented on screen this weekend in the form of Chris Evans’ sweater which, like me, was “artfully distressed” and “distracting” and “clinging to Chris Evans for dear life.” pic.twitter.com/cD91bSZhCd

Why is the sweater causing such a stir? GQ reckons that that answer is simple: "people really love handsome, famous men wearing nice, relatively basic clothes."

They add,  "It’s also, in fairness, a very nice sweater. And he looks very warm. And wholesome. And quite Christmassy."

We couldn't agree more. Maybe this Chris Evan's sweater obsession will translate into a major boost for the thick woolen Irish sweaters made in Galway.
