Residents in Waterford are flocking to an Amsterdam-style coffee shop.

Blooms Cafe sells cannabis and CBD products purported to help relaxation and counteract stress.

The city center venture sells cannabis which has a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content below the legal limit of 0.2% and high levels of the much-buzzed about wellness ingredient, cannabidiol (CBD).

According to the Irish Examiner, customers are prohibited to smoke the herbal infusions within Blooms Cafe, but certain products can be added into coffee purchased in the store.

The cafe states on their social media account that high CBD strains are "perfect for those who want a relaxing and calming experience, but do not want the mind-altering effects that is caused by THC, the compound found in illegal cannabis."

On their website they add that they have "strong ethics", and that all products are "100% legal".

Blooms Cafe also points out that non-addictive, non-toxic CBD "does not impair mental function or increase heart rate."

According to their Instagram page, Blooms offers four different strains of cannabis, with new additions such as edibles stated to be available soon. Vegan, organic food is also available at their John Street premises.

CBD-enthusiasts can also order cannabis strains via their website bloomsbuds.com - although as last check, all varieties were sold out!
