Irish American talking head Bill O'Reilly has raced to defend motormouth Rush Limbaugh in the wake of the St Louis Rams debacle.

O'Reilly has slammed "thought police" in the media (who they?) for saying Limbaugh is racist.

O'Reilly even says Limbaugh should sue NBC and CNN (not Fox presumably) for helping torpedo Limbaugh's involvement in the deal.

O'Reilly says his staff were unable to find a single "racially insensitive" soundbite from Limbaugh, and charged that Limbaugh had been repeatedly hit with "false racial hammers."

This is "1984 stuff, thought police," says O'Reilly. Wonder what George Orwell would have thought?

Anyway, Limbaugh - who is denying all the allegations - has employed the duck-and-dive defense.

Instead of talking about the controversy, he's now talking up his role in Glenn Beck's career.

"Look what I have spawned," he says. Glenn Beck to me is right on, daddy-o. Glenn Beck is a result of my success."

Good grief.
