The New York Yankees need to give Ronan Tynan a break and allow him to resume his role as house tenor who blasts out 'God Bless America' during the seventh inning stretch.

Tynan was pulled from the roster after admitting he made a stupid anti-Jewish remark to a Jewish doctor looking to buy an apartment in his building. The doctor has since accepted Tynan's apology.

The Yankees haven't however. Which is strange. After all, isn't this the club that finds mercy when its top players are caught cheating with steroid use.

Step forward Alex Rodriguez  and pitcher Andy Petite, not to mention Chuck Knoblauch, and a host of bygone stars who were clearly hooped up on dope during their Yankees heyday.

All that has  been quietly swept under the carpet and neatly forgotten about. But the Yankees are coming up all prim and proper about Ronan Tynan and his stupid anti Semitic joke a few weeks back.

Give Tynan this, unlike the dopers he held his hand up and said he was sorry for a stupid and insensitive remark when he was challenged on it. It took a man to do that.

Which is more than A-Rod and his merry men did. They lied, dissembled and swore on stacks of bibles until the evidence was irrefutable.

And the Yankee organization stood right behind them.

Well, they need to give Ronan Tynan the same benefit of the doubt. If the woman who reported the insult has since said she is happy with Tynan's apology then the Yankees should be too.

Or, are they prepared to continue the double standard they showed with the steroid cheats? Lets hear from you Mr.Cashman or Mr.Steinbrenner.
