The 30-year-old heiress split from the nightclub entrepreneur last week after 18 months of dating and she is confident they will be able to maintain a good relationship.

She said: "Cy is a good guy. We've been friends for years and it will not change. I just need some time alone to think about myself. We talk all the time. I have nothing but nice things to say about it. "

Paris has been getting over the split by hanging out with sister Nicky Hilton, former best friend Nicole Richie and pal Samantha Ronson.

The socialite and Nicole – whose friendship has been less intimate in recent years - embraced at an event held at Hollywood's Spare Room last Wednesday and were delighted to catch up.

A source said: "They seemed really happy to see and it looked like they had much to tell."

Meanwhile, Cy is said to be upset that Paris revealed their relationship was over during an appearance on George Lopez’s TV talk show this week.

Lopez also aired a clip from the socialite’s reality show 'The World According To Paris' which depicted Cy in a jealous rage.

The insider told E! News: "They had discussed the split before and Paris had told him that if asked where they were, she would tell the truth.

"It became uncomfortable during the show because of all the jokes that George Lopez was making about Cy. She felt guilty and asked producers to cut the sequence editing, but they refused."
