Irish golf ace Rory McIlroy has found his putting has been scrutinized and critiqued more and more over the past few months, so to combat all the knockers he's seeking help from veteran players like Dave Stockton this week at the Quail Hollow Club.

The master and the apprentice two worked together on Monday and Tuesday.

Major surgery wasn't required, but Stockton helped the up and comer put a little more concentration into his inconsistent putting touch.

This is significant because many observers believe that if McIlroy becomes a more consistent putter - especially when he's under pressure - he will quickly become unstoppable.

Already McIlroy is ranked number 6 in the world and he just turned 22 on Wednesday.

"He helped me more with my routine without really getting into the stroke at all," McIlroy told the press.
