The Yankees opened their new home with a loss to the Cleveland Indians, going down 10-2 on a sunny day in the Bronx.

On an historic day for the franchise, the bat that was laid at home plate before Derek Jeter took the first at-bat in the new stadium had particular significance. It was the same one Babe Ruth used to hit a home run against the Red Sox in 1923 when the original Yankee Stadium opened its doors.

It was 1-1 until the seventh when the Indians exploded with a nine-run inning, meaning the Bronx Bombers will have to wait a little longer to celebrate their first regular season win at new Yankee stadium.
