Ronan O’Gara, fly-half on the Irish rugby team has announced that this will be his penultimate season in top level rugby.

“I’ve decided in my head that I have only two years left at the top,” said O’Gara. “I’ve been extremely lucky with injuries, the body is fine. In terms of emotion, ambition, being driven, that has never been an issue for me. I am looking forward to this season.

"Last season was disappointing, losing the last game to Biarritz (Heineken Cup semi-final), and the situation with Ireland now, where I seem to have lost my place, that’s something I’m really looking forward to work on."

O’Gara held the fly-half position for both Munster and Ireland and is the highest point scorer for both teams. He has captained the Munster, Irish and British and Irish Lions teams during his career.

His plans after the next two season are as yet unknown.
