Robbie Keane has told his LA Galaxy employers – I’ll never be the new David Beckham.

Keane flew back to LA at the weekend to begin pre-season training as the club prepare for life after Beckham.

The English ace has quit the MLS and signed for French side Paris St Germain.
Keane is in line to replace Beckham as the top name on the LA Galaxy roster ahead of the new season.

But the Dubliner has denied he will ever become an American sex symbol like Beckham.

The 32-year-old Keane told the Irish Sun: “I don’t think I’m ever going to be an MLS pin-up.

“With my Irish skin, I don’t think so. People might get a fright at how white I am.

“Like David, I’ve got a few tattoos but not that many. I don’t think anyone has as many as he does.”
Keane did admit that he will miss Beckham on and off the field in LA.

He said: “It will feel strange without but we knew he was going anyway. We’ve known for a while now.

“For me, I always look forward to getting back into the swing of things. I’m looking forward to really getting into training with the lads. For me, it’s been a long break.”

The Irish skipper returned to America without his wife Claudine and son Robert Jnr after the pair took ill last week.

But he was in good company on the flight from London.

WAG Claudine tweeted: “Didn’t fly back to LA yesterday as little Robert and I have the flu. The one time I cancelled a flight and rob is sitting beside Brad Pitt!!”
