Irish jockey Ronan Lawlor has been killed in a gallops accident. He was 21.

Lawlor was killed on neighbour Pat Fahy's gallops in County Carlow early Tuesday.

Lawlor, who was apprenticed to David Wachman last summer, was thrown into a post and rail fence after the horse bolted.

An ambulance was called, but the paramedics could not revive him.

Lawlor leaves behind parents John and Helena, brothers Gavin, Conor, Cathal and sister Aoife.
