Heath Slocum won the The Barclays at Liberty National Golf club in Jersey City after holing a 21-foot par putt on the 72nd hole to finish the tournament nine under par.

Padraig Harrington shot a four under par 67 and holed a birdie putt on the last to give him a total of eight under par, in a tie for the best score in the clubhouse until Slocum came home one better.

Slocum kept his nerve on the final green to edge out Harrington, Tiger Woods and Ernie Els by one stroke.

Slocum’s playing partner Steve Stricker missed a ten foot par putt on the last that would have forced a playoff, and the American had to settle for a share of second with the three big names behind the winner.
