In Ireland most people are familiar with the importance of good land. John B Keane’s play “The Field” depicted the significance of owning a few acres. But the 2011 edition of the Irish Farmers Calendar goes to show that Irish farmers have a lot more on offer than acreage.

A drastic improvement from the 2010 catalogue the 2011 issue offers more larger than life figures who are once again 100% Irish beef.

Every month offers another Irish rogue to drool over. Not to be mistaken for posers, these burly men are pictured performing their daily duties wearing a little more than a smile. Drinking tea; darning socks; talking on their cell phones; these are some of the few Irish men who can multitask.

You may think that Kevin McGonagle (23) is lost as he strolls down Westlemoreland street, in Dublin City wearing nothing but jeans, a pitchfork and a cheeky grin. But this farmer’s day out in the Big Smoke was worthwhile as he is featured as the front man for the month of May!

Ciara Ryan (25), from Dundrum, Dublin, set up the calendar in 2009 when she lost her job. It went so well that she decided to launch it again this year. "There are farmers from all over the country, they all applied through the web. But Irish farmers are a shy bunch so it's been quite difficult finding some models."

Over 20 percent of all profits made from the calendar goes to the Irish charity,  Bothar. Bothar specializes in improved livestock production and support related training and community development through out Africa, South America and Asia.
