On June 21st, 2012, the Irish community in the Boston and New England area was saddened by the death of John Curran. John, a man of many talents and a friend to hundreds, was a great force in the Irish community.

John was the host of ‘The Sound of Erin’ Radio Show on W.N.T.N. for over thirty years and was one of the founders of the Boston branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. He served as master of ceremonies for numerous events such as the Rose of Tralee and annual banquets for many of the county associations and festivals.

John was born in Waterville, Co. Kerry and moved to Crosshaven, Co. Cork at an early age. He went to school with Richard Archer who he later worked alongside in a butcher shop. Some years later, they met again in the Boston area and were partners in the Round Tower Travel company for nine years.

John was also a great friend of the late Larry Reynolds, chairman of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. Larry passed away three months after John.

John will live long in the memory as a beloved friend to those who knew him. Rest in peace, John.
