Jon Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi played two near-sellout shows at the RDS in Dublin last Wednesday and Thursday, and frontman Jon Bon Jovi visited a nearby Italian eatery for some pizza during his stay in the Irish capital.  He also told the crowds that he “always wanted to be Irish,” but what he wasn’t likely banking on was an extended stay in Ireland for surgery.

But that’s just what happened as Bon Jovi checked himself into Dublin’s Sport Surgery Clinic on Friday to repair a torn ligament in his knee.  He picked up the injury during a concert in Helsinki the week before.

"It was raining; we were outside. It was nothing that abrupt... it just sort of gave out and tore. Fortunately, we have a week off. So the doctor claims I'll be alright for Istanbul eight days later,” Bon Jovi said.

Sure enough the hunky frontman is as good as new thanks to his Irish team. "Jon's knee surgery went great. All is well -- it'll take a lot more than that to slow him down. Next stop Istanbul!" his brother tweeted.

Several papers in Ireland reported that Bon Jovi and his band couldn’t have been nicer during their time in Ireland. There were no special requests for rose petals or other such nonsense in their backstage rooms, and in fact the band were quite happy to use of the Leinster rugby team’s changing rooms instead of importing their own.
