A group of young cadets from Marion Military Institute are in Donegal on a special mission.

The cadets from Marion Military Institute, a military junior college in Alabama, are learning Irish.

The group are in Glencomncille, in the heart of the Donegal gaeltacht, a popular place to learn or improve your Irish.

The group follow in the footsteps of many others who have traveled to the area to learn Irish, the Donegal Daily reports.

Donegal Minister Joe McHugh and Daniel O’Donnell have both spent time their to improve their Irish.

The cadets, who chose to come to Ireland for the five week program, will receive credits towards their diploma for learning a language.
