It's a Hollywood star in its own right, and as luck would have it 'The Quiet Man' has just been sold to a fan of the film.
According to the Irish Independent, Pat Cohan's bar in Cong, County Mayo, went on sale at the start of the year and saw a number of bidders from the UK and America.
But now local auctioneer Vincent Walsh reportedly confirmed that the pub is off the market and the contract is with solicitors.
'We have a deposit on the property and we're waiting for the solicitors to get things in order. It's early days but we are confident we'll see the deal done,' he added.
The new owner is reportedly from England and already owns a number of properties in the area which is indelibly associated with the film. He is understood to be a regular visitor to the area following on from his love of the John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara movie.
'He's very much a fan of 'The Quiet Man' and he's spent a lot of time in the area in the past. I'd say the pub will be a pastime for him more than anything,' added Walsh.
Can you put a price on a dream? Sometimes yes, you can. The pub is understood to have sold for close to the $386,000 asking price.
