Tánaiste Simon Harris has shared his support for Katie Taylor’s Croke Park dream, saying it will be a "proud day for Irish sport."
The Bray boxer has been very vocal about her desire to fight at GAA Headquarters since her first professional win in 2022.
With Taylor confirming her next bout will be her last, all eyes have been on promoter Eddie Hearn to make her dreams come true.
Following much teasing and speculation, it appears we’re finally set to get confirmation that it’s happening.
Matchroom Boxing is expected to confirm the bout this Friday, with the promoters calling a press conference at Croke Park at 2 pm.
In a post shared to social media, Eddie Hearn wrote: "No words, see you Friday," along with confirmation of the press event.
The presser is likely to also confirm who Taylor will take on. The fight night is expected to take place on Saturday, September 5.

Among those delighted by the upcoming news was fellow Wicklow native Simon Harris, who took to social media to welcome it.

"The world champion who has competed and won on the biggest stages in world boxing, Katie has broken down barriers and opened doors for generations of young women in sport at home and far beyond.
