An Taoiseach Micheál Martin has assured that Santa Claus has ‘complete clearance in Irish airspace’ on Christmas Eve following consultations with his fellow Ministers.
Santa Claus is due to make his trip around the globe on December 24, alongside his trusty reindeer, Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen.
It comes following a busy year at the North Pole, where Santa and his elves worked around the clock to make the toys that would be dropped around the world.
Speaking in Dáil Éireann on Thursday, Taoiseach Mr Martin confirmed everything was set for smooth sailing next week.
The confirmation came following a question put to the Fianna Fáil leader by Meath West TD Aisling Dempsey who requested ‘personal assurance that our airspace will be clear for Santa’ on Christmas Eve.
Deputy Dempsey made the request ‘on behalf of all the parents and the carers, and on behalf of all the children across Ireland, especially my own two at home in Meath, Liam and Hannah.’

Attention then turned to Mr Martin who confirmed he had consultations with Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien and Minister for State Sean Canney.
The Taoiseach said: ‘I want to assure the deputy, I’ve had consultations with the Minister for Transport, Minister Darragh O’Brien, Minister Sean Canney and Santa has complete clearance in Irish airspace on that critical timeline that you’ve outlined and I think Liam and Hannah can rest assured that he will arrive on time and with an abundance of toys and so forth for the children of the nation.’
The exchange was shared on social media by RTÉ News who confirmed ‘Santa incoming.’
