Cork 96FM DJ, Neil Prendeville has been given good odds to win a Gooseberry award for the Worst Irish Radio DJ of 2010 following an incident when he was forced apologize for masturbating on an Aer Lingus flight from London to Dublin.

Irish bookmakers Boylesport are giving him good odds to win the award at the Irish equivalent to Hollywood’s Raspberry Awards which celebrate the worst of Irish music and media.
 
Prendeville is a 4/6 clinch while he faces stiff competition from Derek Mooney and Gay Byrne (both RTE).
 
A spokesperson for the awards, Nicola McGeady, Boylesports PR Executive, said “The spoof award ceremony is all in the name of fun so we hope the celebrities don’t get too offended and take it all in their stride.”
 
Also in the running for awards are Crystal Swing for the Worst Irish Act. They’re also expected to pick up an award for the Worst Irish Single with “He Drinks Tequilla”.
 
Derek Mooney is also running for a separate category with Today FM’s Ray Foley. They’re both up for Worth Irish TV Host.
 
Recently Derek Mooney had to apologized after he mocked a cancer suffer’s choice of headwear on live TV. Foley has been nominated for his involvement in the painful dating show from TV3 “Take Me Out.”
