Mystery still surrounds the death of Pat O’Hagan, 78, who was found dead – police say murdered – in a wooded area near her home in Sheffield, Vermont, a town of barely more than 700 people.
O’Hagan was reported missing on September 11 and her body was found by hunters on October 3. It is believed she was abducted. A full-scale search had been mounted, involving FBI agents, police, and volunteers who scoured the roads and woods around northern Vermont
Although an autopsy has been carried and police are treating the case as a homicide, they have given no indication yet of how she was murdered. Investigators have said that she was ‘forcibly removed’ from her home.
O’Hagan was buried on Monday.
