Ireland’s famous Jameson Irish whiskey recorded an impressive, record-setting year with reports showing that sales jumped 15 percent. reports on the sales growth for the Irish product. Pernot Ricard, the drinks group that distributes Jameson, reported a net profit of €1.2 billion for June 2011 - June 2012.

Jameson sales jumped by 15 percent during the time period when an all-time high of 3.9 million nine-litre cases of whiskey were sold. A 3 percent increase in the average sales price for the Irish whiskey aided in the growth of the overall sales.

The whiskey, originally distilled in Dublin but now in Cork, is Pernot Ricard’s sixth best-selling product. Absolut vodka is the group’s highest performing, having sold 11.4 million cases last year.

The accounts published on Thursday morning also showed that sales in Asia grew by 15 percent, helping to increase the overall intake for the drinks group. Africa and the Middle East also returned healthy sales increases, while European sales grew only a modest 2 percent.
