Lindsey Gill, who suffered serious injuries in the car accident at a church fair in Yonkers last month that killed her 15-year-old sister Kalie, is making a steady recovery and enjoying physical therapy, she says.

Lindsey, 12, whose parents Damien and Karen are natives of Co. Leitrim, wrote an entry on her sister’s Facebook memorial page updating followers on her progress.  Lindsey was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and underwent a series of operations, but is expected to make a full recovery.

“It’s been over a month since the tragic accident. I’m feeling so much better than how I was a few weeks ago. It’s crazy how fast I am healing, even the doctors and nurses said so,” Lindsey, a student at PS 19 in Woodlawn, posted on November 15.

“Physical therapy is going good and it’s actually fun. I am an admin on this page so I can update you guys on how I’m doing weekly. This page is dedicated to Kalie and we will mostly put up stuff about Kalie but a few of you suggested to post updates about me. So I will try my best.

“Thank you for all the gifts, cards, messages, fund raisers and everything else you guys have been sending and working on. It really means a lot to me and my family.”

A fundraising weekend in aid of the Gill family is set to kick off with a concert at St. Barnabas High School Chapel on Friday, December 13, and a fundraiser at Rory Dolan’s on McLean Avenue in Yonkers on Sunday, December 15.
