The world’s most famous singer for now, Adele, will kick off a tour in February, and she’s selected Ireland north and south for her first dates.

The 27-year-old British mega star has set sales records all over the world with hew new album 25, and fans based in Belfast will get to see her first when she kicks off her European tour on February 29 at the SSE Arena in the city. She’ll be there the following night too, and then moves to the 3Arena in Dublin on March 4 and 5.

The tickets will undoubtedly sell out in a matter of seconds, given Adele’s surging popularity. They go on sale this Friday, just in time for the holiday gifting season, though members of Adele.com will get first crack on Wednesday, Dec 2.

Adele last played in Dublin at the Olympia Theatre in 2011– capacity 1,200. RTE said that tickets for those shows were being sold on the resale market for up to €1,000, not surprising given that she was already on the road to superstardom at the time with her hits “Rolling in the Deep” and “Rumor Has It” from her album 21.

Adele isn’t the only high profile act set for Ireland next year. Rihanna just announced that she’ll play the outdoor Aviva Stadium in Dublin on June 21, to support her new album. She’ll have a couple of hitmakers with her to warm the crowd up – rapper Big Sean and R&B star The Weeknd.
