Get ready for Fifty Shades of Grey mania as the Valentine’s Day release date for the film approaches. The film’s Irish star Jamie Dornan is already all over the place in the U.K., giving major interviews to Britain’s Elle and GQ magazines talking about his role as Christian Grey, the kinky star of the hugely successful Fifty Shades novels.

"I'm an extremely liberal person, I don't give a f***. If people are into that they're into that,” Dornan told GQ, referring to Grey’s love of S&M.

“There's weirder s*** than that. I think plane spotting is far weirder than S&M. That I really don't get. I can understand why people are into S&M, but standing outside Heathrow Terminal 5 waiting for Ryanair to come in?"

The 32-year-old former underwear model from Holywood, Co. Down says the film isn’t totally chock-full of sex, though the three Fifty Shades books are hardly known as being literary masterpieces.

"The love story is more important than the BDSM aspect," he told Elle UK. "I mean, we are going to tell a love story, you know, it can’t just be what happens in the Red Room, that’s not a film. There’s so much more going on than that."

One of the hardest parts of Dornan’s escalating fame is the time he has to spend away from his daughter, not yet two years old. He and his wife, British actress/singer Amelia Warner, welcomed their little one in Canada when Fifty Shades filming just started.

"I've had to be away the last couple of weekends, and I come back and I barely recognize her, and it's awful; she changes so much... And then I have this huge fear that she won't recognize me,” he says.

“The beard helps, but I had to shave it off a couple of times, so she's been shocked for the first few hours. She looks at me like, 'Do I love you? I think I love you.' I have to win back her trust."
