Holidaymakers were left shocked after they found the body of an Irishman floating in a lagoon at a popular Thai holiday resort.
The man – named in media in Thailand as 28-year-old Scott John Revie Little – was discovered floating in a lake on Thursday morning, local time, after arriving on the western part of the popular island of Phuket just the night before.
It was reported that Mr Revie Little arrived at the luxurious Sky Park apartment block by tuk-tuk – a three-wheeled taxi – on Wednesday night. Thai police are now scouring CCTV to track his movements in the hours leading up to his death.
Witnesses said he ran towards the water while shouting for assistance before disappearing out of sight.
He is believed to have died at 2am local time on Thursday – 8pm on Wednesday here – without having checked into any nearby hotels. He was discovered by shocked guests the next morning floating in the small lake.
Police officers, a medical examiner and rescue volunteers pulled him out of the lagoon at around 11am local time and a post-mortem was later carried out.

Thai authorities confirmed they reported the man’s death to the Irish Embassy in Bangkok. The Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday it was aware of the case and was providing consular assistance, but would not comment further.
Local news site Khaosod English reported that a local police lieutenant said the cause of death was unknown and an investigation room had been opened. ‘We have not yet completed a review of CCTV footage from the hotel or surrounding area,’ he said.
‘Police have requested access to surveillance recordings, and the hotel is coordinating the release of the footage to police.
‘Investigators are working to establish the victim’s movements before arriving at the lagoon, including where he travelled from before being dropped off.
‘There were no visible wounds on the body. We have to wait for the forensic doctor to complete the examination.’
Police are also trying to work out if Mr Revie Little was in Thailand alone or with friends.
It’s unknown how long he was in Phuket.
