Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny has stated that a “range of initiatives, some of them very exciting “ will shortly be unveiled aimed at the Irish Diaspora.

He was speaking to Bloomberg Television in London after meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron there on Monday .

Kenny also announced he will be in New York for the American Ireland Fund dinner on May 5th and is likely to discuss his ideas further.

He is believed to be considering calling another Farmleigh-style  meeting where leaders of  the  Diaspora  from all over the world would meet in Dublin to discuss economic options  for the country.

A similar meeting was held in September 2009 for the Irish Diaspora at Farmleigh, the official government residence  in Dublin.

He stated that the initiatives would be “very interesting and very novel” and would involve the75 million Diaspora worldwide.

Asked if he was considering Irish diaspora bonds Kenny stated that the bonds would have to be at a rate that made sense as a return for investors.

He stated that during his recent visit to Washington he had been greatly encouraged by the goodwill he found towards Ireland and that he found people ‘excited and ready to help’.

Kenny stated that a ‘few novel ideas”  would emerge shortly on the Diaspora.
