Police in Ireland investigating the disappearance of nanny Aoife Phelan, (30), have found a body. The discovery was made after police searched land at the back of a home in Co. Laois as part of their investigation, RTE reports.

Phelan, who told her family she was pregnant, was last seen on October 25 at the Borris Road roundabout in Portlaoise. On Monday, police confirmed they were treating the disappearance of Phelan as a murder investigation.

Detectives arrested a 24-year-old man, known to the victim, at his home on Monday under section 4 of the 1984 Criminal Justice Act.He was later released without charge.

On Tuesday, detectives searched an area of the M7 motorway, while Garda Water Unit divers examined nearby forest, the Irish Independent reports. A search was also conducted at the rear of a home close to the victim’s hometown.

A native of Cashel, Ballyroan, Portlaoise, the 30-year-old had been working as a live-in au pair at The Hermitage, Portlaoise. Her employer raised the alarm on Friday October 26, when she failed to show up for work.
