The trial of Irish nanny Aisling McCarthy Brady , who pleaded not guilty to the murder of Rehma Sabir, has been set provisionally for April 7th of next year. The County Cavan native, who is being held on $500,000 bail, will remain in prison until trial.

Brady was not present at the Thursday hearing. In April she appeared in court, distraught, and pleaded not guilty to the charges against her. She will appear in court again in August, Boston.com reports. Her trial date may be changed as the case progresses.

Boston prosecutors maintain that the one-year-old baby was in Brady’s sole care when she sustained blunt force injuries which were consistent with violent shaking. Brady’s lawyer Melinda Thompson insists her client is innocent and has been wrongly accused. Thompson has pointed out to the court that baby Sabir presented with other older injuries at the Boston Children’s Hospital and was diagnosed as malnourished after traveling with her parents in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and London.

The 34-year-old Irish nanny has been in jail since January following the death of baby Sabir on January 16. In April a grand jury indicted Brady on murder charges following the release of the medical examiner’s report.

McCarthy Brady had been living and working illegally in Quincy, MA, since 2002.
