An Irish chef based in New Orleans will appear on the Food Network’s hit show 'Chopped' next Tuesday.

Matt Murphy, a Louisiana-based chef was selected to compete in the show due to be broadcast on July 31st.

'Chopped' is a cooking competition show that's all about skill, speed and ingenuity where four up-and-coming chefs compete before a panel of three expert judges and take everyday items and turn them into an extraordinary three-course meal.

Chef Murphy is the executive chef and owner of The Irish House Gastropub in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans.

According to the bio on the Irish House website, he studied in Cathal Brugha College in Dublin and has worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants around the world.

“Looking back, I can see that all of my travels, all of those techniques I learned across the globe, were preparing me for my career in New Orleans.  Someone once told me that New Orleans cuisine is more than a fusion of different cooking styles, it’s a fusion of cultures,” Murphy states.

The Irish House in New Orleans will be hosting a viewing party for the 'Chopped' episode, beginning at 8PM. Reservations are currently being taken for this event.
