Niamh and Alma Kinsella, both in their 30s, remain in critical condition in Tallaght Hospital, while their sister Ella Hendricken, who is in her 20s, is being treated for serious injuries at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Ella’s young nephew is also being treated for serious injuries at Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The family, from the Graiguecullen area of Co Carlow, is understood to have been traveling to Dublin Airport for a flight to a family wedding in the UK when their car was struck by a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the M9.

The GoFundMe appeal was launched on Tuesday by Bryan Curley, a close friend of Ella, and had passed €102,000 of its €110,000 target within hours, with more than 3,800 people donating.

‘Hi my name is Bryan and I’m setting up this fundraiser for my best friend Ella and her sisters, Niamh and Alma, who were recently involved in a serious road traffic accident,’ he wrote.

‘This has been an incredibly difficult and frightening time for Ella, Niamh, Alma and their family. They are facing a long and challenging road ahead, and right now, I ask that you keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.’
