Irish Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore arrived in New York on Monday for an extensive program of engagements at the UN during the week, including an address on Tuesday at the High Level Meeting on Nutrition.

On Thursday, Gilmore will address the 66th UN General Assembly.  his program includes a wide range of bilateral meetings with key world leaders. 

During his visit, Gilmore will support the promotion of Irish trade and investment including by attending the Irish America Magazine Wall Street 50 event in New York on Thursday evening.

He will also undertake a number of broadcast and print media interviews to outline to an American business audience the steps being taken by the new Irish government to address Ireland’s economic challenges.

Gilmore will also have discussions with representatives of the main Irish community support centers and business networks in the New York area. This weekend he will visit a center for Irish emigrants in the Bronx before attending an afternoon game at Gaelic Park.

Gilmore will also visit the 9/11 Memorial and attend an event with Seamus Heaney at NYU Glucksman Ireland House. He is also expected to attend one of the plays showing in NY with the First Irish Theatre Festival.
