New program at Aisling Irish Center aims to build youth's self-esteem and confidence through challenging experiences, developing the ability to manage personal and social relationships.

Foróige is the leading youth organization in Ireland and has been working with young people since 1952.

In 2017 the Foróige program came to the states with the first program in PA. Now in 2018, the Aisling Irish Community Center will be the running the New York program.

The purpose of Foróige’ s program is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their development and in the development of society.

The Aisling Center will offer Foróige to serve as a model to engage Irish American youth and give many younger people the opportunity to connect with their Irish heritage in a contemporary way. The program is geared to engage our youth in leadership and civic duties, and compliments the center’s community spirit of giving and involvement.

All Foróige Clubs, Projects, Services and Programs are designed to achieve these by; building self-esteem and confidence through challenging experiences, developing the ability to manage personal and social relationships, provide learning opportunities which enable youth to gain knowledge and develop new skills and to build young people’s capacity to consider risks and consequences, make informed decisions and take responsibility.

The program works with over 50,000 young people aged 10-18 each year through volunteer-led Clubs and staff-led Youth Projects. Foróige currently operates in 26 counties in Ireland, with more than 600 Foróige Clubs, 150 Youth Projects, the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring program, the Foróige Youth Entrepreneurship program, our Youth Citizenship and Youth Leadership programs.
