An incident at Blanchardstown Garda Station in Dublin on Tuesday morning, January 6, has been resolved "peacefully," An Garda Siochana have confirmed.
Shortly before 4 am, an adult male entered Blanchardstown Garda Station, threatening members, Gardaí said on Tuesday.
An Garda Síochána initiated its Operational Command protocol, appointing an On-Scene Commander. Local Garda negotiators from the National Negotiators Unit, along with the Armed Support Unit, attended the scene.
Traffic diversions were put in place at the junction of Snugborough Road and Main Street, as well as the junction of Main Street and Clonsilla Road, stopping vehicles from passing at both locations.
The incident was ultimately "resolved peacefully following negotiations," Gardaí said.
Arising from the incident, an adult male has been detained under provisions of Section 12 of the Mental Health Act, 2001.
No injuries were reported.
Gardaí noted that the roads that had been closed in the area have been reopened.
Investigations are ongoing.
For the incident, An Garda Síochána requested a media blackout, which was lifted after about an hour.
