The brother of the convicted rapist whose arm was discovered on a Dublin beach has spoken out about the horror of his brother’s death. James Nolan’s arm was found on Dollymount Strand. His fingers had been cut off.

Robert Nolan told the Sun newspaper that he had taken part in a brutal gang rape alongside his brother James and a friend over 20 years ago. He told the newspaper that he imagined James’ death was “ten times more horrific” that any of his own crimes. He compared it to something from a horror movie like “Silence of the Lambs."

In February, James’ arm was found on Dollymount beach, in the suburbs of Dublin. It is believed that Nolan was killed, his body mutilated and dumped in the Irish Sea.

In 1986, Nolan was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the gang rape of a 22-year-old woman. He was released from prison last November having served 18-months of a three-year sentence for burglary. He went missing shortly after his release.

The Irish police are still searching for his body. They believe that Nolan was murdered shortly after his release from prison. The police have also said that his arm was cut off in an effort to prevent police from identifying his remains.
