Irish police are appealing for information as a Donegal resident was found dead in his home with injuries consistent with those of a car crash.

Lithuanian national Richardas Loveikis  was found unresponsive in his Buncrana home.

Loveikis (47) was pronounced dead at the scene as Gardai arrived to the house in Oakfield Close around 6.30pm on March 18th.

While he may have died of natural causes, the man has "some unexplained injuries to the body consistent with either a fall or as a result of being in a vehicle that was involved in a collision" according to local Gardai.

A post mortem was carried out at Letterkenny University Hospital.

According to The Sun, there was a single vehicle collision in the nearby Donegal village of Burnfoot shortly after midnight on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th.

A white Renault van had crashed on Slab Road, approximately 15 minutes from the home of the man, but there was no one present at the scene when Gardaí arrived.

Detectives are now investigating a link between the two incidents and trying to determine if the Lithuanian national had been driving or was a passenger in the van.

Anyone with information, or who drove past the scene of the crash on March 17th, is urged to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540.
