The full trailer of Morgan Spurlock’s behind the scenes documentary “One Direction: This is Us” about the popular boy band’s “Take Me Home” world tour has been released. A teaser trailer had been released earlier this year.
Originally titled “1D3D,” the documentary’s title has changed to “One Direction: This is Us.” Allegedly the change was made so moviegoers unfamiliar with the band will have an idea what the movie is about. The documentary, filmed by Spurlock who did “Supersize Me” and “The Greatest Story Ever Sold” is scheduled for release at the end of the summer on August 30th.
The trailer debuts One Direction’s new single “Best Song Ever,” which was co-written by Ed Drewett, Wayne Hector, John Ryan and Julian Bunetta.
In one of the scenes shown in the trailer, Zayn Malik buys his mom her dream house. When she calls him while on tour to thank him, they both cry. The Daily Mail quotes his mother from the trailer, “I know you always used to say I’ll get you a house when you’re older . . . Thank you for what you’ve done for us. I’m so proud of you.” A tearful Zayn replies, “Well get off the phone then before I start crying too!” The boys’ mothers are also seen saying how much they miss their sons while they are on tour.
Also seen in the trailer, Harry Styles visits a Cheshire bakery where he used to work as a schoolboy. He says about his return, “It’s nice spending time with people who know what I’m actually like.” Styles introduces one of his co-workers saying, “This is the one who used to pinch my bum on a Saturday.”
One Direction consists of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The group was discovered in 2010 by Simon Cowell on the U.K.’s “The X-Factor.” One Direction finished in the final three of the show and went on to have a successful career. They were the first UK group to have an album debut at #1 on the Billboard charts and they have numerous fans on both sides of the pond.
