This coming weekend marks the 30th annual Great Irish Fair of New York celebrating everything about Ireland’s culture and heritage. The annual family friendly event celebrates New York City's great Irish-American heritage and culture.

Kicking off this Friday, September 16, the festival will see hundreds of people join in the celebrations, enjoy the music, fun and entertainment provided by the event which runs throughout the weekend at MCU Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Presented by the Irish American Building Society Charities, the weekend festivities include the inaugural 5k walk, traditional and contemporary Irish music, performed by local bands, Irish dancing, food and goods. Fun for the children is also set to include inflatable rides, magic shows, and face painting.

Bands performing over the weekend include Andy Cooney; The Canny Brothers Band, Derek Warfield and The Young Wolf Tones, Jameson’s Revenge and The Moonshiners Band.

The inaugural 5K Run/Walk on the Riegelmann Boardwalk on Saturday. Entrants can sign up for the race here.

Founded in 1982 by the Brooklyn Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), the organization has continued to run the event for over two decades. Since 2007 the event has been sponsored by by the Irish American Building Society Charities.

In keeping with the festival’s charitable tradition all proceeds go to supporting Catholic school education in Brooklyn and Queens.
