Is Rosie O'Donnell hoping to be the next Oprah?

O'Donnell, who hosted the syndicated "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and appeared as a guest talkmeister on "The View," is working with a team of syndicate pros on another show, planned for a launch in the fall of 2011.

That start date would coincide with the end of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

The story was first reported by the website Showbiz411.com.

The fact that O'Donnell is planning the show for syndication and outside the "studio system' may mean she intends to be herself -- complete with the salty talk and politically charged style that has landed her in hot water more than once.

O'Donnell, who tried but failed to start an NBC prime time variety show, may be a better candidate for the controvesry-loving cable world, which has been expanding in the talk-show arena.

"Cable likes controversy and defined personalities with a strong point of view," a leading syndicator said.
