Music to the ears of Irish people - forecasters say that Ireland and the UK will experience scorching temperatures of 85°F/29°C by the end of May.

Stock up on SPF, Ireland - it looks like a heatwave is headed your way.

The surge in temperatures are apparently a result of warm weather coming up from Spain, according to The Star.

The newspaper reports that Ireland will be basking in "glorious sunshine" from the end of May to the middle of June.

Ireland has certainly seen a far warmer April than usual.

Forecasters predict that April temperatures will soon top 21°C.

Over the past weekend, both Ireland the UK experienced the warmest day of the year so far.
