Will Ferrell’s comic buddy movie “The Other Guys” has finally knocked “Inception” off its top spot in on the United States box office charts making $35.6 million.

The Adam McKay movie is the second-highest debut of Ferrell’s careers so far, the biggest being “Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby.” “Talladega Nights” opened with $47 million in August 2008. “Step Brothers” made $30.9 million in July 2008 and “Anchorman” made $28.4 million in July 2004.

Sony had thought that the film would go to number one but they only expect the movie to make $30 million. Rory Bruer, President of worldwide distribution at Sony said Ferrell McKay movies always do well.

“The chemistry between those two men in regards to comedy is at the top of their game…They bring out the best of each other," said Bruer.
