Several Irish actors are due to appear in American television pilots for the upcoming 2013-2014 season.

IFTN reports on the Irish talent that is soon to hit American TV screens.

Cork native Edward MacLiam, who is best-known for his work on ‘Holby City’ and ‘Eastenders,’ will take the lead role in the ABC show ‘Big Thunder.’ On the show, which is described as a 19th century-set drama based in a rural mining town, MacLiam will play the lead character Dr. Grant Carson.

Joining MacLiam is Ruth Bradley, who won an IFTA this year for her role in ‘Grabbers.’ Bradley will feature in the show playing the role of a nanny. The pilot is set to shoot in Vancouver.

Another Irish set for the American pilot season is Dublin native Sarah Bolger. Bolger has already appeared in both ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘The Tudors,’ and burst onto the scene with her appearance in 2002’s ‘In America.’

Bolger is set to take a role in ‘Mixology,’ a comedic look at the dating life of 10 characters over the course of one night in Manhattan. The actress will play the role of Janey with the pilot being directed by legendary sitcom director and multiple Emmy-winner Larry Charles (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) and with a script from the writers of ‘The Hangover’ movie.

Stuart Townsend, who is originally from Howth in Dublin, will take a lead role in another ABC show ‘Betrayal’ where he’ll play a lawyer whose life spirals out of control after he begins an affair with a married-photographer. The pilot has been written by David Zabel (‘ER’).
