U2 has broken the record for the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay Top 10 hits in history after their new single "Atomic City" shot to number 4  in the charts this week.

The Irish band has now had 27 appearances in the Adult Alternative Airplay Top 10, one more than the Dave Matthews Band who previously held the record.

British band Coldplay makes up the top three with 24 Top 10 appearances to their name.

Atomic City, which debuted last week, marks the first time since February 2018 that a U2 song has made the Adult Alternative Airplay Top 10. On that occasion "Get Out of Your Own Way" reached number 3 in the charts.

U2 also holds the joint record for most Adult Airplay number 1 singles, topping the chart on 13 different occasions.

Their song "Beautiful Day" topped the charts for 16 weeks in 2000 and 2001, a longer stretch than any song in history.

The Adult Alternative Airplay charts rank the most popular songs on adult album alternative radio stations, with the weekly chart based on each song's radio spins.

Meanwhile, U2 has added 11 new dates at the Las Vegas Sphere in January and February 2024 due to "unprecedented demand".

"U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere" opened the new $2.3 billion venue in September, with the residency originally intended to include 25 shows.

U2 has now announced that it will perform at the venue on January 26, 27, and 31 and on February 2, 3,7, 9, 10, 15, 17, and 19.

The new dates were announced after the first nine sold-out performances of the residency received widespread critical acclaim.

DUE TO UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND, ADDITIONAL 11 DATES ANNOUNCED FOR U2:UV ACHTUNG BABY, LIVE AT SPHERE IN 2024.
