TLC is continuing its mission to bring competitive Irish Dance to the mainstream with its newest show ‘The Big Jig’ which will share the story of several young American Irish dancers who are heading for the World Championships.

A Zap2It blog previews the new Irish Dance show for TLC that is, quite literally, following in the steps of the network’s airing of 2011 film ‘Jig,’ and ‘Strictly Irish Dancing,’ both of which also followed dancers and their journey to the World Championships.

‘The Big Jig’ will focus on young American dancers from New York and Illinois who were in training for the 2012 World Championships in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the most prestigious competition for any competitive Irish dancer.

TLC hasn’t offered any official news yet on their website regarding the new Irish dance show. However, IrishCentral reported in November that TLC would be bringing ‘Irish Dancing Tweens’ to television sets across the country as a series - whether or not the network opted for a single special in ‘The Big Jig’ is yet to be known.
