Dominic West, the upper crust actor who's star of the hit TV show 'The Wire,' will marry a County Limerick woman at her family castle on the banks of the Shannon Estuary this weekend.

It's an aristocratic setting that's about as far as it's possible to get from the mean streets of Baltimore and the hard-drinking, bed-hopping Detective that West plays in the series.

The wedding will be held in Glin Castle, the home of West's Irish bride, Catherine FitzGerald who is a daughter of the 29th Knight of Glin, Desmond FitzGerald and his wife Madam Olda FitzGerald.

The couple, who met when they studied at Trinity College, have three children. Dominic said: 'We met when we were both doing Irish literature in Trinity. I was born in Yorkshire and went to Eton, but I’d grown up with this romantic notion of wanting to live in Ireland, because my mum’s family were Irish. Studying Joyce and Yeats seemed like the perfect opportunity.'

Local parish priest in Glin, Fr Thomas Crawford will officiate at the wedding ceremony in the Church of the Immaculate Conception which stands near the entrance gates to Glin Castle.
