Saoirse Ronan says Ryan Gosling is a "blonde Canadian Jesus"

The Irish actress worked with the star on his directorial debut 'Lost River' and while she is a fan of his work, she was most impressed with his ability to get people to pronounce her name correctly.

While presenting Saoirse with her New Hollywood Award at the Hollywood Film Awards in November, Ryan introduced her by saying: "It's Ser-sha, like inertia.”

And now that people can finally pronounce her name, a thrilled Saoirse told PEOPLE: "He's like, Jesus or something, like a blond Canadian Jesus.

"Someone sent me a photo two weeks later of a cinema in Minnesota, and on the sign in the front it said 'Brooklyn' and then underneath it said, 'Ser-sha, Like Inertia.' I couldn't believe it! They actually put it on the front of the cinema, so the power of Ryan Gosling is stronger than anything else."

Saoirse previously revealed her friends were jealous about her working with Ryan on 'Lost River'.

She said: "I told one of my best friends as she told me if I ever worked with Robert Pattinson or Ryan Gosling, she needed to come with me. So I told her, 'Guess what, I'm working with Ryan Gosling.' And she grabbed my wrist really tightly and was like, 'I'm going to kill you.' So she was really happy for me.

"He's really, really cool. He takes his job seriously and he takes what we were doing seriously but he's the best guy to be around. He's so much fun. I love him."
