Two of Ireland’s golden girls are teaming up for a highly anticipated new film.
It has been revealed this week that Saoirse Ronan and Jessie Buckley are set to share the screen in the upcoming feature adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s bestselling novel "Three Incestuous Sisters."
Josh O’Connor and Dakota Johnson are set to round out the star-studded cast, with principal photography to begin in April.
Italian director Alice Rohrwacher will take on the script written by Ottessa Moshfegh and Rohrwacher, which is said to be loosely based on the book.
Because it is considered a loose adaptation, plot points are being kept heavily under wraps at this time.
The book is originally an illustrated novel, which focuses on three sisters: Bettine, Ophile, and Clothilde.
A blurb for the novel reads: "Living in isolation by the sea. Their intense, insular bond is shattered when a stranger, Paris, arrives, causing a passionate love affair, jealousy, and a dramatic, tragic turn of events."
The announcement comes on the back of Buckley’s recent clean sweep across award season, with the Irish star receiving widespread acclaim for her role in Oscar-nominated "Hamnet."
